Grundig mini 100 pe and extended antenna

Can I put an alligator clip wire antenna on this or will it blow out
the circuitry?  Relatively new at this, however, I used to have an RS
shortwave many years ago and realize that too much antenna can damage
a radio.

Thanks
Greg

I have NEVER heard of too much antenna damaging a radio;

- Static electricity, yes!!
 Lightning nearby, Definitly

The voltages coming off a wire  are very small;

 - Worst that may happen is you'll pick up local police  / nearby
radio stations ( overload)

Had a crystal radio when I was a kid, hooked up 800 feet of antenna
worked like a charm!

I agree with Dan.

I'd definitely hook some wire to it.  Grab the rat shack *reel in* antennae.
It has the clip for the whip or the plug for the jack,  just remember if you
use the antennae jack you disable the am.

Modern receivers don't suffer from the same effects of overloading the
front end of the receiver the way some older rigs did. Today's receivers
will attenuate overly strong signals in some cases giving worse
performance than you could get off the whip. However, this requires one
heck of a signal - a stronger one than I've ever received anyhow.

- Greg, Enjoy!!
- best to put it up on the roof, around the eaves, or WAY way out in the
boonies;
far far away from electronic interference.

A lot of antenna will usually bring more noise and general grief. I
would guess that 20-25 feet*** out the window would be more than
enough.
