I had a good experience tonight which showed me how selective it can
be. It was a good night for MW reception in general, and I wanted to
hear WSB on 750 kHz. I live in Niagara Falls, New York, which is only
30 miles as the crow flies from the 50,000 watt powerhouse CHWO
(formerly CBL of the CBC). While on my walk outside, I could clearly
hear, with no QRM from the adjacent channel (from CHWO or WJR on 760,
only 4 hours away by car), WSM on 750, as it rebroadcasted CNN.
I know others have complained about the Mini World's sensitivy, but
they must have had bad units. I find mine also couples well with
the Radio Shack Loop antenna... with the PE100 next to the loop,
I could even hear the Venezuelan station in the background of
WSM! If you are looking for a cheap, very portable and small
MW receiver, check the Mini World out... just make sure you can
return it if you get a bad one.
