Off-topic: Need battery for Bearcat BC100XLT

I know this is a bit off-topic, but figured you guys would know.

I have a Bearcat BC100XLT scanner that I use to cover things my RS
DX-398 won't.  It has a NiCad battery that gets to the point it won't
hold a full charge about every 2 years or so.  I have been buying them
from Uniden, but they charge exorbitant prices.

Do you of you know of another source that might be more reasonably
priced?

Thanks for the help.

I've bought one or two of these from Grove, but that was years ago. Don't
know if Bob may still have one laying around or not.

Scannerworld has them in their catalog.

Goto www.scannerworld.com
The battery you want is part # BP200-205  (the same battery for BC-100,
BC-200, BC-205).   Scannerworld's price is  $34.99

Don't know what Uniden charges, but Batteries America has the standard
600mAh for $35.00 or the 1200mAh for $45.00.  They also sell the
600mAh inserts for $15.00 and 1100mAh inserts for $21.00 and you can
rebuild the pack yourself.

Check out http://www.batteriesamerica.com

Good luck with your search.

Someone else suggested that very thing to me via Email.  I've done that
before for other rechargeable battery powered stuff.  Took my battery
apart, found it contains 6 AA NiCads bound together for 7.2Vdc and
(forgot the current rating!).  Has a Sanyo part number.  I'll bet I can
find it at Batteries Plus.  Or, can probably build my own.

Thanks, all
