K1oik's INTERNET ACCOUNT TERMINATED

Post by Jim Kehl » Sat, 29 Jun 1996 04:00:00

I know a few of you have been bothered by messages posted to these
and other amateur newsgroups by K1oik in the last few days.

It saddens me to think that within the brotherhood of ham radio there
are people who would go out of their way in an attempt to stain the
character of a fellow ham.

I thought everyone would be happy to know that we shouldn't be
bothered any further by this gentlemen, as his internet account has
apparantly been  terminated.

Whoever the little worm was, I hope he had fun while it lasted, and
I would like to commend AOL for quickly pulling the plug on him.
Amazing how easy it is to make a little piece of dirt disappear down
the drain.  I would also like to thank all the other hams who were
involved in notifying AOL of the problem.  Solving little problems
like this are a shining example of what hams can do when they stick
together as a group.

On behalf of the hams on internet I would also like to extend
apologies to the REAL Burt Fisher, K1OIK, and tell him that we
realized (well, most of us anyway) right from the first posting that
the messages posted by this impersonater were no where near
the quality or caliber of what Burt normally posts, and we hold
him in no way responsible for anything posted by this second rate
AOL imitation of a real ham.

You're right that it was no where near the quality - the imposter used
real sentences with actual structure and coherence - that crack about CB
being too intellectual wasn't bad!

If k1oink (sic) talks like he types, it's no wonder he's frustrated that
no one will talk to him. To play the devil's advocate, one must be able to
advocate with some degree of facility. <g>

..  and I may add the thanks of many universities, which never before had
such good "real world" reading material for their pathological psychology
classes. The material seemed to get inconsistent lately, with all those
surprise moments of lucidity and intellectual brilliance.

You can't be serious, Jim.
I enjoyed them, and so did quite a few other readers.

A fellow ham? Would you mind checking the meaning of "fellow" with
Webster's...

That guy entertained and was fun to read; while burt's postings should be
conserved, as they make an efficient remedy for food poisoning. "Drink
lots of water, then read five immediately. Repeat two times..."

"little worm" ... "little piece of dirt" ... tsk, tsk, tsk ... Did it ever
occur to you, that you were talking about a human? One with obviously more
brains than Burt ever will muster? Does the fact, that you did not see the
point of those postings, give you the right to use such language? Is that
the language of "fellow hams"? Or "a shining example"?

Quote:> On behalf of the hams on internet I would also like to extend

Who empowered you to speak for me? And with this rotten language? I am
ham, I am on the internet, but I did not empower you to speak for me ...
Speak for yourself only, Jim.

"We"? Majesty's plural? .... humm .... interesting

I think he was being sarcastic.  Jeez, everybody is so cranky.  I think
we all need a little more sleep of something...

Would you have enjoyed them as much had the worm used your name and
call when he signed up for AOL ?

Well I'm one of many who enjoyed them.  It's refreshing to read
a bit of black humour and satire amidst a rather humourless
group.  Frankly I feel that anyone who is offended by anything
he says is thin-skinned, takes himself and the hobby far too
seriously and has too big an ego to realize he/she is under the
illusion of being too self-important.

Oh lord, you make us sound like Communists.

If it's not him it will be someone else who realizes just how easy it
is to get a rise out of whiners and cry-babies.

Oh yes, Brothers and Sisters, Solidarity Forever!  Now if only we
could solve big problems.

See what I mean folks, self-importance lives.  He thinks he's
speaking for me and all hams on the Internet.  Must be a
Republican (that ought to get me a few more flames!)

Keep smiling.

Geez, Alan, what have you been reading ?  This newsgroup beats any
comedy club I've ever been to. It's like Saturday Nite Live all week !

Surely you're not suggesting that hams who frequent this newsgroup
are whiners and cry-babies ?

At least there is black something re: ham radio. Because we sure do not welcome
black people. Hams humourless?? Surely you jest. Can't you hear all the HI HI HI
HI's? Hams are a real hoot.

I laught at myself and I accept a good shot in good humor but I am
an Atypical ham.

Hams are the easiest marks on earth.

Burt,

Please do not speak for me.  I welcome anyone that is or wishes to
become a ham.  No matter of race, religion and/or creed.

Has for hams being white...I suggest that you look around world.  There
are hames in just about every country and not all of those countries
have a white population.

Your comments have always been about hams in general with no
specificiation as to their location in the world.  Therefore please
don't try "well, I really meant to say......".

There you go, Lyndon, thinking again. Remember, Mommy told you that
